KABUL, Afghanistan - Afghan and International Security Assistance Force service members are conducting a search and rescue mission on an airplane that crashed in the mountains near Kabul Oct. 12.
The crash occurred shortly before 8 p.m. approximately 25-30 kilometers east of Kabul International Airport.
Early reports indicate the plane is an L-100 Hercules aircraft, the civilian equivalent of a military C-130.
The plane was not an ISAF aircraft.
Kabul International Airport is expected to remain open.
