    KABUL, Afghanistan – A senior Taliban leader surrendered to a combined force of Afghan National Army special forces and Afghan Border Police during operations in Dand Patan District, Paktiya province, Thursday.

    The ANA special forces team, assisted by U.S. Special Forces, received information about a known improvised explosive device facilitator and Taliban senior leader who was located in a store.

    ANA special forces coordinated with the local Afghan Border Police chief who sent an officer to the store to confirm the leader’s presence.

    The combined force of ANASF and ABP personnel secured the perimeter of the store, allowing the senior Taliban leader to peacefully surrender.

    No civilians were harmed during the operation.
