KABUL, Afghanistan – Afghanistan National Security and International Security Assistance Forces, commenced a clearing operation in the southern Helmand province town of Bahram Chah Saturday.
The area is a Taliban command and control area that consists of narcotics trafficking, weapons and ammunition storage, improvised explosive device factories, and foreign fighter training areas, according to Regional Command Southwest officials.
Afghan and coalition forces are working together to remove the enemies’ transhipment center for fighters, weapons, and IED-making material.
The operation will strengthen the counter-insurgency efforts throughout Helmand province, according to RC-Southwest officials.
