KAJAKI DAM, Afghanistan – Members of the Warrior Express Services Team, Headquarters and Service Company, 1st Marine Logistics Group (Forward) brought a little piece of home to the Marines of India Battery, 3rd Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, when the team visited them here, Oct. 17-27.
The Marines of the WES Team run a traveling post exchange, or PX, so Marines deployed to remote areas can have a chance to buy snacks, drinks and other comfort items not normally found at remote forward operating bases.
The India 3/12 Marines were excited to have a chance to buy these items.
“When we were setting up, people were already saying that they were so glad that we were there,” said Chief Warrant Officer 3 Feleasa E. Dunmeyer, the officer in charge of Marine Corps Community Services, H&S Company, 1st MLG (FWD).
The mobile PX wasn’t the only thing WES Team brought to Kajaki. They also brought Morale Satellite computers and phones so the Marines could get in touch with their loved ones back home.
“What won them over was the Morale Sat,” said Dunmeyer, 45, from Hollywood, S.C, “We set up five computers and three phones.”
The WES Team Marines love doing what they do, bringing some of the comforts of home to the frontlines.
“You know you’re making people happy,” said Dunmeyer. “Those guys have nothing, and it is just great to see them smile.”
