CAMP DWYER, Afghanistan –On Nov. 10, Marines and sailors of Combat Logistics Battalion 3, 1st Marine Logistics Group (Forward) gathered together to celebrate 235years of Marine Corps history and tradition.
Six weeks after arriving here to conduct operations in support of the International Security Assistance Force, CLB-3 personnel temporarily paused to celebrate the 235th Marine Corps birthday with a traditional cake cutting ceremony. The ceremony brought together hundreds of CLB-3 personnel composing the battalion’s five companies.
During the ceremony, as is custom, the first piece of the cake was presented to the guest of honor, CLB-3’s commanding officer, Lt. Col. Henry W. Lutz III. The next two pieces of the cake went to the youngest and oldest Marines present, symbolizing the passing of the Marine Corps’ illustrious history from one generation to the next.
Following the ceremony, CLB-3’s personnel will carry on the legacy of those who went before them by supporting operations here in Afghanistan’s Helmand province.
