KABUL, Afghanistan - International Security Assistance Forces targeted a district level Taliban command and control center during an airstrike in the Now Zad District of Helmand province, Friday.
Multiple intelligence sources and tips from local citizens led ISAF to a district level Taliban command and control center that the Taliban operated from. Surveillance indicated that the Taliban were using the location to control insurgent activities and as a meeting site. In the last few days, numerous armed insurgents have been seen coming and going from the location.
Seven insurgents were assessed killed in the air strike.
Initial reports indicate no civilians were harmed in the operation.
