KABUL, Afghanistan – Coalition forces killed several armed insurgents during a precision air strike in Baghlan province targeting a Taliban senior leader operating in Baghlan-e Jadid District, Friday.
The senior leader reportedly attacked Afghan voters at polling stations during the September parliamentary elections, and has planted improvised explosive devices along public roads.
Based on intelligence sources, coalition forces tracked a group of insurgents to a remote area in Baghlan-e Jadid District. After positively identifying weapons and careful planning to avoid civilian causalities, coalition forces conducted the precision air strike.
