    KABUL, Afghanistan – Afghan and coalition forces shot and killed two insurgents during an operation in the Shah Joy District of Zabul province last night.

    The dead include Amarat, the targeted Taliban leader who was involved in improvised explosive device attacks and the kidnapping of Afghan government officials.

    Two armed insurgents opened fire on the Afghan and coalition forces as they approached the targeted building. The joint team returned fire, killing the two terrorists.

    Security forces discovered a chest rack along with multiple weapons and ammunition during a search of the compound.

    The joint security team conducted the operation in the hours of darkness to minimize the risk to local citizens. No women or children were injured or detained during this operation.
