KABUL, Afghanistan - International Security Assistance Forces targeted a Taliban leader during an air strike in Nad ‘Ali District, Helmand province, Saturday.

The targeted insurgent was an active tactical-level leader who planned, coordinated and executed direct and indirect fire attacks against Afghan National Security Forces and ISAF. He was also a key figure in the movement of weapons and ammunition within the district.

Multiple intelligence sources led ISAF to the location of the Taliban leader. After observing him for several hours, he and another insurgent departed the location on a motorcycle and ISAF followed them.

As the leader traveled into a remote area, ISAF conducted an air strike and killed the leader and the other insurgent.

Initial reports indicate no civilians were hurt in the operation.
