KABUL, Afghanistan – Three Afghan civilians were killed and four seriously wounded in an improvised explosive device blast in Shah Wali Kot District, Kandahar province today.

International Security Assistance Forces responded to the scene and evacuated the wounded to an ISAF medical treatment facility in Kandahar.

“These events demonstrate the insurgents complete disregard for the lives of innocent Afghan civilians.

This IED attack is a further reminder of the indiscriminate weapons insurgents use,” said U.S. Army Col. Rafael Torres, ISAF Joint Command’s Combined Joint Operations Center director. “Our thoughts and concerns are with the victim’s families. We’ll work with our Afghan partners to find those responsible for this attack and bring them to justice.”
