KABUL, Afghanistan – Afghan and coalition forces captured an active Haqqani Network facilitator and two additional suspected insurgents in Logar province yesterday.
The facilitator was heavily involved in suicide attacks against Afghan government officials and coalition forces, and played a critical facilitation role for the attack networks operating in Kabul.
Based on intelligence tips, the security force targeted a series of compounds south of Qal-ah-ye Alikhan in Pul-e ‘Alam district to search for the facilitator. Afghan forces called for all occupants to exit the buildings peacefully before the joint security force cleared and secured the compound. After initial questioning at the scene, the security force detained the facilitator and two of his associates.
The security force did not fire their weapons during this operation and the women and children remained safe and protected throughout the search.
