KABUL, Afghanistan – The International Security Assistance Force confirmed the capture of a Haqqani leader during an operation in Khost province Nov 25.
The Afghan and coalition force’s deliberate campaign to disrupt Haqqani operations in Khost province has resulted in 20 Haqqani senior leaders being captured or killed during operations in the province this month.
The targeted individual conducted remote-controlled improvised explosive device attacks against coalition force bases and convoys.
The security force followed intelligence reports to a compound southwest of Guldar in Sabari District to search for the targeted individual. Afghan forces used a loudspeaker to call for all occupants to exit the buildings peacefully before the joint security force cleared and secured the compound. After initial questioning at the scene, the security force detained the targeted individual along with two of his associates.
The security force did not fire their weapons during this operation and the women and children were protected throughout the search.
