Afghan Commandos, US Soldiers reach out to community
KANDAHAR, Afghanistan – Afghan commandos from 3rd Commando Kandak, along with soldiers from Special Operations Task Force – South, reached out to the local community by handing out school supplies, comics and jackets to area children, Dec. 10, near Kandahar City.
The partnered force met with the headmaster of the Sayeed Shied Bacha School where the commandos passed out 100 jackets, 100 backpacks, 80 commando comic books, 150 commando stickers and 50 commando posters.
The commandos went one room at a time through the school in order to engage all the children, said the head of Military Information Support Operations at SOTF-S.
“Each room began with a speech by the 3rd Commando Kandak cultural advisor, followed by the dissemination of the backpacks and jackets by the commandos” he said. “This was a way for the commandos to take a break from kinetic operations and provide for children in their area.”
