KABUL, Afghanistan – Afghan and coalition forces captured a Taliban leader who has connections with other Taliban leaders throughout Sayyidabad District during a security operation in Wardak province yesterday.

The detained Taliban leader is a liaison to a commission comprised of senior Taliban members who govern leaders and sub-leaders throughout the district. Reporting indicates that Taliban personalities operating in the district respect their approval process and adhere to their demands.

Forces followed leads to the target location, where Afghan forces used a loudspeaker to call all occupants to exit the buildings peacefully before conducting a search. The security team identified and detained the targeted leader based on initial questioning at the scene.

No women or children were injured or detained during this operation.
