KABUL, Afghanistan – Afghan and coalition forces targeted a Taliban facilitator, detaining several suspected insurgents during a security operation in Qalat District, Zabul province Feb. 4.
The weapons facilitator is involved in small and heavy arms weapons trade and distribution for attacks against Afghan and coalition forces. He has recently taken a more active role in insurgent activities since the detainment of a Taliban leader in the area.
Security forces followed leads to a targeted location in the district, where Afghan and coalition forces conducted a search after securing the compound. Three suspected insurgents were detained after initial questioning at the scene.

In Khash Rod District, Nimroz province, Afghan and coalition forces targeted a Taliban facilitator, detaining several suspected insurgents. The Taliban facilitator is responsible for the movement of logistical supplies and purchases weapons for attacks against Afghan and coalition forces. Security forces followed leads to targeted compounds where Afghan forces called for all occupants to exit peacefully before conducting a search. The suspected insurgents were detained after initial questioning at the scene.
East
ISAF confirmed a Haqqani Taliban facilitator was detained during an Afghan and coalition operation in Logar province Feb. 1. The leader was responsible for the facilitation of weapons, improvised explosive device and small arms fire attacks against Afghan and coalition forces in the area.
In Tagab District, Kapisa province, an Afghan National Security Force and ISAF patrol detained one insurgent and discovered a weapons cache consisting of three full AK-47 magazines, two 9 mm pistols, one 7.65 mm pistol, seven 7.65 mm shells and other assorted munitions.
All weapons have confiscated and will be destroyed.
