KABUL, Afghanistan – Afghan and coalition forces detained several Hezb-e Islami Gulbuddin facilitators and numerous suspected insurgents during a security operation in Sabari district, Khost province yesterday.
One Hezb-e Islami Gulbuddin facilitator operated out of Sabari district where he instructed other Hezb-e Islami Gulbuddin and Taliban insurgents how to build improvised explosive devices and transferred weapons for attacks against Afghan and coalition forces in the area.
He also transferred money for other Hezb-e Islami Gulbuddin insurgents operating in the province. The Hezb-e Islami Gulbuddin facilitator received and moved equipment for a possible attack against Afghan National Army and coalition forces according to recent reporting.
The other Hezb-e Islami Gulbuddin facilitators from Dan Faqiran village were responsible for emplacing improvised explosive devices in the province for attacks against Afghan and coalition forces.
Security forces followed leads to a targeted building where Afghan forces called for all occupants to exit peacefully before conducting a search. The Hezb-e Islami Gulbuddin facilitators and the other suspected insurgents were detained based on initial questioning at the scene.
