KABUL, Afghanistan – Afghan Border Police and Afghan National Army soldiers graduated from the Joint Security Academy Southwest administration course in Camp Leatherneck, Helmand province, Feb. 24.

The 20 graduates can now take what they have learned as personnel clerks back to their units to better track and manage personnel accountability and records.

“In the past 10 days these soldiers and border police officers have participated in a challenging administrative course designed to prepare them to be proficient in administrational functions,” said Lt. Col. Marcus Williams, director of Joint Security Academy Southwest.

“The knowledge will greatly enhance the units’ administration efficiency while conducting combat operations throughout southwest Afghanistan.”

Afghan Brig. Gen. Ghulam Farouq Parwani, the Afghan National Army 215th Corps deputy commander and the graduation speaker, emphasized that the Afghan National Securuity Forces members in attendance need to take what they learned from this course to heart to help the citizens of their country.

“You know when you joined the security forces of Afghanistan you had to be an expert in your field and be professional, because if you’re not an expert in your field you won’t be able to serve your people,” Parwani said. “You know our government can’t provide everything the Afghan National Security Forces need, but the coalition forces have committed themselves to help Afghanistan.Shoulder-to-shoulder, they and the [Afghan National Security Forces] train us and every two weeks they graduate expert and professional soldiers helping the Afghanistan government to better defend our country, our borders and to help us become better servants to the people of Afghanistan.”
