KABUL, Afghanistan – Afghan National Security and International Security Assistance Forces confirmed the capture of an insurgents leader and supplier of IED components at a compound near Band’e Timor District, Helmand province, Wednesday, March 9.
The insurgent leader, Hashim Gul, was observed running into a compound adjacent to the Arghandab Rod River and was later detained by ANSF and ISAF.
There were no civilians casualties as a result of this operation.

Coalition forces operating in Sangin District, Helmand province, discovered a weapons cache today, while conducting a dismounted patrol in the area. The cache consisted of eight pressure plates, one AK47 rifle, one rocket propelled grenade, 200 7.62 mm rounds, one anti-tank weapon and four 20 mm rounds.
A dismounted patrol discovered a weapons cache consisting of 104 25 mm rounds in several ammunition cans in Marjah District, Helmand province, today.
East
Afghan and International Security Assistance Forces located a weapons cache in Mehtar Lam District, Laghman province, yesterday after receiving tips from an unidentified source. The cache consisted of 33 rocket propelled grenades, 21 RPG boosters, nine anti-personnel mines, two 105 mm rockets, five hand grenades and 150 12.7 mm rounds.
In Tagab District, Kapisa province, an ISAF patrol discovered a weapons cache today. The cache consisted of three 82 mm mortar round, one rocket propelled grenade, two 105 mm head shells, nine ChiCom rockets, 21 ChiCom rocket fuses, three anti-personnel mines, 26 9 mm magazines, 11 AK47 magazines and 20 bags of solid rocket fuel.
All weapons have been or will be destroyed by security forces.
