KABUL, Afghanistan – Several insurgents were killed by International Security Assistance Forces during a clearing operation in southern Afghanistan, today.
In Reg-e Khan Neshin District, Helmand province, an ISAF patrol spotted armed insurgents moving toward a historical firing location and called for air support. After gaining positive identification, the air weapons team engaged the enemy position killing several insurgents.

South
In Helmand and Kandahar provinces, during separate clearing operations, coalition forces discovered several weapons cache in Sangin, Marjah and Spin Boldak Districts, today. The cache consisted of 1,800 7.62 mm rounds, one pistol, two AK-47 butt stocks, 4 full AK-47 magazines, 14 rocket-propelled grenade rounds, five RPG warheads and one 82 mm mortar round.
All weapons were confiscated and have been or will be destroyed.
East
In Ghazni province, an air weapons team supporting ground forces observed several armed insurgents in Andar District. After establishing positive identification, the air weapons team engaged the enemy position killing one insurgent and forcing the others to flee.
