KABUL, Afghanistan – Afghan national security and International Security Assistance Forces killed two insurgents during a clearing operation in southern Afghanistan, April 4.
In Helmand province, an ANSF and ISAF patrol was engaged with small-arms fire by several insurgents in Sangin District. The combined patrol returned artillery and small-arms fire. Coalition forces also called for air support. After gaining positive identification, the air weapons team supporting ground forces engaged the enemy position killing two insurgents.

In Kandahar province, during separate clearing operations, ANSF and ISAF discovered several weapons cache in Panjwa’i District, April 4. The cache consisted of three AK-47s, 1,020 7.62 mm rounds, 14 full AK-47 magazines, nine rockets, four chest racks, nine pressure plates and several cell phones.

In Kabul province, a combined security patrol retrieved a weapons cache in Paghman District consisting of 23 rocket-propelled grenade rounds.
The weapons were confiscated and have been or will be destroyed by the security forces.
