KABUL, Afghanistan – International Security Assistance Force killed several insurgents in Yahya Khel district, in Paktika province, April 11.
An ISAF combat outpost declared an imminent threat on numerous armed insurgents in Yahya Khel district. Coalition forces engaged insurgents and called for air support. After gaining positive identification, the air weapons team engaged the enemy position, killing several insurgents and forcing the others to flee.
Following the attack, a coalition forces quick response team recovered three AK-47 assault rifles, one PKM machine gun, one rocket propelled grenade, one 9 mm pistol, three tactical chest racks with grenades, two motorcycles, tactical communications equipment and one video camera.

In Sar-e Pul province, an ISAF patrol observed armed insurgents in Sayad district, April 11. Coalition forces engaged insurgents and called for air support. After establishing positive identification, the air weapons team engaged the enemy position, killing one insurgent and forcing the others to flee.
South
In Uruzgan, Kandahar and Helmand provinces, during separate clearing operations, Afghan National Security Forces and ISAF discovered several weapons caches, in Deh Rawud, Arghandab and Marjah districts, today. The caches consisted of 500 7.62 mm rounds, four rocket-propelled grenade rounds, 14 82 mm mortar rounds, two 107 mm rockets, two chest racks, eight mortar fuses, 12 homemade detonators and several improvised explosive device-making components.
East
Afghan National Security Forces and ISAF discovered a weapons cache in Paghman district, Kabul province, yesterday. The cache consisted of 22 RPG rounds, 10 recoilless rifle rounds and loose ammunition.
The weapons were confiscated and have been or will be destroyed by the security forces.
