KONDUZ PROVINCE, Afghanistan – Soldiers from the 1st Company, 5th Commando Kandak and Special Operations Task Force-East captured two insurgents in the Khanabad District, Konduz province, during a joint operation, May 7.

Commando forces received local intelligence leads on two insurgents.

One insurgent tested positive for explosive residue is believed to be the suicide bomber facilitator responsible for the July 2010 bombing of the Konduz City Ariana Hotel.

The detainees were taken into custody pending further investigation.

No civilians were injured and no property damage was reported.
