KABUL, Afghanistan – Three Afghan civilians were killed and eight injured after a failed Taliban attack on Combat Outpost Honaker Miracle, Kunar province, May 16.

Four insurgent mortars missed their coalition force target and struck civilians.

Afghan National Army soldiers evacuated the wounded civilians to a nearby hospital for treatment.

“Currently, our Afghan National Security and coalition forces are working diligently to counter the recently-announced Taliban spring offensive against ISAF and civilians,” said Afghan National Army Maj. Shereen Agha, 2nd Brigade, 201st Corps. “The ANSF are well-trained and will not run or shy away from a supposed Taliban offensive.”
