KABUL, Afghanistan – A combined Afghan and coalition security force detained several suspected insurgents during an operation in Washer District, Helmand province, yesterday.
The force was searching for a senior Taliban leader who serves on the insurgent military commission, and is responsible for providing attack guidance to subordinate insurgents.

During an overnight security operation in Kandahar City, Kandahar province, a combined Afghan and coalition security force detained a Taliban leader. The leader was responsible for coordinating roadside bomb attacks against Afghan National Security Forces.
A combined Afghan and coalition security force detained one suspected insurgent during an operation in Shah Joy District, Zabul province, yesterday. The combined force detained the individual while conducting a search for a Taliban leader responsible for conducting roadside bomb attacks.
East
During a security operation in Zurmat District, Paktiya province, a combined Afghan and coalition security force detained several suspected insurgents yesterday while searching for a Haqqani Network leader. The leader directs roadside bomb and indirect fire attacks against Afghan and coalition forces operating in the district.
Also in Paktiya, an Afghan and coalition security force detained two suspected insurgents while searching for a Haqqani network leader in Dzadran District, yesterday. The leader is responsible for insurgent attacks against Afghan and coalition security forces.
Finally, in Mata Khan District, Paktika province, a combined security force detained one suspected insurgent while searching for a Taliban facilitator, yesterday. The facilitator finances insurgent attacks and provides safe haven for senior insurgent leaders.
