FORT HOOD, Texas — The Army chief of chaplains will open The Warrior and Family Chapel Campus at 2 p.m., Aug. 15 here, located on Tank Destroyer Boulevard and 31st Street.
The $28 million facility houses approximately 100,000 square-feet devoted to the spiritual fitness of the Fort Hood military community. The four buildings will serve as a multi-purpose activity center, a home for the installation’s Chaplain’s Family Life Training Center, a worship center and a religious education facility.
That faith-based community at Fort Hood, said Chaplain (Col.) Frank Jackson, the Fort Hood Garrison chaplain, has been growing over the past two years, noting an increase in attendance at Catholic services from 700 to more than 1,000 each Sunday. He said the new worship center will be able to accommodate larger services. The chaplain said attendance at nearly every service on the installation has risen during his tenure.
Media interested in covering this event should register at the Fort Hood Press Center. The gate time for this event is 1:15 p.m. Media should meet public affairs representatives at the Fort Hood Visitor Center south side parking lot.
