KABUL, Afghanistan – A combined Afghan and coalition security force detained a Taliban facilitator and one associate during a security operation in Shinwar District, Nangarhar province, yesterday.

The facilitator operated in the Surkh Rod district and provided direct support to Taliban attacks against the Afghan National Police and other Afghan National Security Forces.

The force also confiscated an AK-47, pistols, several chest racks and a stockpile of ammunition.

In other International Security Assistance Force news throughout Afghanistan:

North

In Khanabad District, Kunduz province, a combined Afghan and coalition security force detained numerous suspected insurgents during a search for an Islamic Movement Uzbekistan facilitator, yesterday. The facilitator is heavily involved in the movement of weapons and explosives for attacks throughout northern Afghanistan.

South

A combined Afghan and coalition security force detained one suspected insurgent during a security operation in Panjwa’i District, Kandahar province, yesterday. The leader is responsible for multiple ambush and roadside bomb attacks against Afghan National Security Forces.

East

In Nerkh District, Wardak province, a combined Afghan and coalition security force captured a Hezb-e Islami Gulbuddin leader and several of his associates during a security operation yesterday. The leader was responsible for planning and coordinating attacks against Afghan National Security Forces.

Finally, an Afghan and coalition combined security force detained several suspected insurgents during a search for a Haqqani Network leader in Zurmat District, Paktiya province, yesterday. The leader is responsible for coordinating roadside bomb and direct attacks against Afghan National Security Forces.
