KABUL, Afghanistan – A combined Afghan and coalition security force detained more than 10 suspected insurgents yesterday while searching for a Haqqani network facilitator in Nerkh District, Wardak province.
The facilitator is responsible for car bomb attacks in the region.
The force also recovered equipment used for making improvised explosive devices.

In Spin Boldak District, Kandahar province, a coalition force patrol detained numerous insurgents during a search for a weapons cache, today. The weapons cache included one AK-47, one rocket-propelled grenade launcher, four RPG warheads, 21 RPG propellants and one pineapple grenade. The weapons were seized and will be safely destroyed at a later date.
North
A combined Afghan and coalition security force detained one suspected insurgent while searching for a Taliban leader in Chimtal District, Balkh province, yesterday. The leader is responsible for distributing weapons and conducting attacks on local security members and Afghan National Security Forces.
In Talah wa Barfak District, Baghlan province, a combined Afghan and coalition security force detained multiple suspected insurgents while searching for a Taliban leader, yesterday. The detainees were taken in by Afghan Security Forces for further questioning.
East
A combined Afghan and coalition security force detained one suspected insurgent while searching for a Taliban leader in Tagab District, Kapisa province, yesterday. The leader is responsible for distribution of small arms and suicide bomb attacks against Afghan and coalition security forces.
Finally, in Terayzai District, Khost province, a combined Afghan and coalition security force detained multiple insurgents while searching for a Haqqani network leader, yesterday. The leader is responsible for coordinating attacks on local security members in the region. Multiple weapons and a grenade were also confiscated during the operation.
