    KABUL, Afghanistan – An Afghan and coalition combined security force conducted an operation in search of a Haqqani network leader in Dzadran district, Paktiya province.

    The leader organizes network operations in both Khost and Paktiya provinces. He also facilitates the movement of insurgents from Pakistan to the region. Multiple suspected insurgents were detained during the operation.

    In other International Security Assistance Force news throughout Afghanistan:

    North

    A combined Afghan and coalition security force captured a senior Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan facilitator during a security operation in Baghlan-e Jadid district, Baghlan province. The facilitator planned attacks and assassinations against Afghan government officials. He also attempted to organize and build new cells of fighters for attacks against Afghan security forces. No civilians were injured during the operation.

    South

    In Deh Rawud district, Uruzgan province, yesterday, a combined Afghan and coalition force discovered and seized a weapons cache consisting of four rifles, 13 boxes of 9 mm rounds, 3,500 7.62 mm rounds, 30 hand grenades, ten rockets and four radios.

    East

    A coalition patrol discovered a weapons cache in Alisheng district, Laghman province today. The cache consisted of five 82 mm grenades, two hand grenades and 12 rocket fuses. All the weapons were safely destroyed by security forces.

    A Haqqani network leader was captured by an Afghan and coalition combined force during a security operation in Khost district, Khost province. The leader was involved in the coordination and guidance of personnel, as well as the use of roadside bombs and rockets to conduct attacks against Afghan forces. The security force detained six additional suspected insurgents during the operation.

    In the Pul-e ‘Alam district, Logar province, a combined Afghan and coalition security force conducted a security operation in search of a Taliban leader. The leader is responsible for recent roadside bomb attacks against coalition forces. The security force detained multiple suspected insurgents during the operation.

    Finally, in Sherzad district, Nangarhar province, a combined Afghan and coalition security force conducted a security operation in search of a Taliban facilitator. The facilitator is responsible for coordinating the movement of vehicles, weapons and roadside bomb components throughout the area. The security force detained multiple suspected insurgents, as well as confiscated weapons, heroin and roadside bomb making material during the operation.
