KABUL, Afghanistan – In the Shah Wali Kot district, Kandahar province, a combined Afghan and coalition security force detained multiple insurgents during a security operation in search of a Taliban leader.
The leader is responsible for the movement of explosives, as well as planning attacks against Afghan forces in the Shah Wali Kot district.
During the operation, multiple suspected insurgents were detained and black tar heroin was confiscated.

In a separate security operation, a combined Afghan and coalition security force conducted a search for a Taliban facilitator in Shah Wali Kot district, Kandahar province. The leader coordinates roadside bomb attacks, as well as provides guidance to subordinate insurgent fighters prior to attacks in the region. During the operation, the security force detained two suspected insurgents.
East
A combined Afghan and coalition security force conducted an operation in search of a Haqqani network leader in Sabari district, Khost province. The leader is responsible for direct attacks against coalition forces, as well as facilitating weapons and equipment for use by insurgents. The security force detained two suspected insurgents during the operation.
