KABUL, Afghanistan – A combined Afghan and coalition security force detained a Taliban facilitator during a security operation in Faizabad district, Jowzjan province.
The facilitator planned and conducted attacks against Afghan forces, as well as distributed weapons to subordinate fighters. Additionally, he provided reports to senior Taliban leaders following attacks in the region.
Multiple weapons were confiscated to include a rocket-propelled grenade launcher and grenades. The security force detained two additional suspected insurgents during the operation.

A combined Afghan and coalition security force conducted a security operation in Archi district, Kunduz province. The Taliban leader plans and conducts attacks against Afghan forces. Multiple suspected insurgents were detained during the operation.
East
In Sabari district, Khost province, a combined Afghan and coalition security force conducted an operation in search of a Haqqani network leader. The network leader coordinates direct fire and roadside bomb attacks against Afghan forces. The security force detained multiple suspected insurgents during the operation.
South
Lastly, in Zharay district, Kandahar province, yesterday, a combined Afghan and coalition force discovered and seized a weapons cache consisting of 84 pounds (38 kg) of homemade explosives, five pressure plates and six 60 mm mortar rounds. All the items were safely destroyed by security forces.
