    Combined operations kill one, detain 13, seize weapons in eastern Afghanistan

    BAGRAM AIR FIELD, Afghanistan – Afghan and coalition forces killed one insurgent and detained 13 suspected individuals in eastern Afghanistan during operations over the past 12 hours, Dec. 29.

    A coalition airstrike killed an insurgent after troops positively identified him carrying weapons in Tagab district, Kapisa province.

    Afghan National Army troops with 3rd Kandak, 201st Corps, detained five individuals wanted for questioning in Tagab district, Kapisa province. They were transported to a nearby base for questioning.

    Combined forces troops detained five insurgents after a small-arms fire engagement in Dehyak district, Ghazni province. They were safely transported to a nearby base for questioning.

    ANA troops with 4th Kandak, 203rd Corps, detained two individuals for suspicious activities in Pul-e-alam district, Logar province. They were transported to a nearby base for questioning.

    Another individual, who tested positive for explosives, was detained by Afghan Uniformed Police officers in Khugyani district, Nangarhar province. He was transported to local headquarters for questioning.

    Coalition forces seized 10 pounds of poppy seeds, two bags of fertilizer, two jugs of ammonia, 20 rounds of 7.62 x 45R, a scope, a shotgun and a .22 cal rifle in Alingar district, Laghman province.

    An unmanned aerial vehicle crashed in Khowst district, Khowst province due to mechanical problems. The UAV was recovered, and there was no enemy activity in the area prior to the crash.

    Operations in RC-East are still ongoing.
