KABUL, Afghanistan -- Gen. John R. Allen, commander of the International Security Assistance Force, joins President Karzai in condemning today's early morning suicide car bomb attack in Nangarhar province that killed 9 Afghans to include civilians, security guards and an ANA soldier.
“On behalf of the entire ISAF coalition, I extend my deepest sympathies to the families of the victims in today’s attack,” said Allen. “The Taliban is shamelessly murdering innocent Afghan civilians and Afghan National Security Force members, and poisoning the sacred faith of Islam.”
“Insurgents tried to attack an ISAF installation, and on that objective, they failed. The Taliban took more innocent lives and devastated families who will forever mourn the loss of their loved ones,” said Allen.
“Continued violence only hinders everyone’s mutual desire to reach a political settlement in this conflict,” added Allen. “We are steadfast in our desire to support our Afghan partners, and will use the extensive range of our resources to eradicate this heartless insurgency.”
ISAF continues its work alongside Afghan National Security Forces to halt acts of terror and build an enhanced security environment to promote peace and stability throughout Afghanistan.
