    Marine Day at Burke Lakefront Airport

    11 – 11:45 a.m. - Marine Corps Martial Arts demonstration
    Noon – 12:30 p.m. - Military Working Dog demonstration
    12:30 – 1 p.m. - Quantico Marine Rock Band performance
    1 – 1:15 p.m. - Silent Drill Platoon performance
    1:15 – 1:30 p.m. - Quantico Marine Band performance
    2 – 3 p.m. - Air, Land and Sea Combat demonstration – Marines simulate an amphibious assault

    All attendees must enter Burke through Gate 9 located off North Marginal, which will be closed to vehicle traffic to ensure the safety of attendees walking from the parking lot to the gate. Gates will open at 10 a.m. and Marine Day activities will begin at 11 a.m. Spectators are encouraged to use public transportation, as parking will be limited to the municipal lot located across the shoreway from the track/airport. Parking is also available at Tower City and various parking lots located throughout downtown.

    An RTA Paratransit Bus will shuttle spectators requiring special assistance to and from Gate 9 from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The bus will pick up at the Waterfront Rail Line station at Lakefront Muni Lot and transport attendees requiring special assistance to Gate 9.

    There will be an area reserved for handicap personnel approximately 100 yards from the entrance. Chairs in this section are first come, first serve.

    Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets, as well as unopened bottled water. Outside food, coolers and smoking within airport grounds are prohibited. Food vendors will be available on the airport grounds. Merchandise vendors will be located in the vicinity of the airport grounds.

    Media coordinating instructions:

    Media outlets planning to have a live truck within the viewer area Saturday need to arrive at Burke Lakefront Airport Gate 3 near the Blue Angel display no later than 9:30 a.m. The trucks will be let in early and stationed before attendees are let in to stake out seats. The trucks will not be allowed to leave until after the last demo of the day.

    If you do not have a live truck, you can arrive at any point during the day and you will enter through the same gate. You will need to buzz in at the entrance and provide your name and media outlet. Please call us to inform when you will be arriving as you will be escorted to the parking area by a public affairs Marine. If there is no one there to escort you please call the following numbers:

    Morning Colors
    8 a.m. – Marines raise the American Flag at Voinovich Park.

    Equipment Displays
    8 a.m. – 8 p.m. – Marines will display state-of-the-art ground vehicles, aircraft, weaponry and equipment displays at Public Square, Gateway Plaza, Voinovich Park and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

    Vietnam War Memorial Wall Replica & Ohio Flags of Honor – Marine Honor Guard
    8 a.m. – 8 p.m. - The largest replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial will be on display as well more than 400 full-sized flags memorializing Ohio’s fallen service members at Voinovich Park.

    National Museum of the Marine Corps Exhibit
    8 a.m. – 8 p.m. - Experience the tradition and history of the Marine Corps through combat correspondent artwork and history panels depicting the Corps’ timeline from inception in 1775 to present. Exhibit housed at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

    Military Science and Technology Expo
    8 a.m. – 8 p.m. – The exposition, housed at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, features a simulated firing range, state-of-the-art weaponry and hands-on tutorials with the latest robotic equipment.

    Marine Corps Martial Arts Program Demonstration
    9 – 10 a.m. – Marines will conduct hand-to-hand combat exhibitions at Public Square.

    Working Dog Team Demonstration
    10 – 10:45 a.m. – Marines will showcase their four-legged friend’s capabilities at Public Square.

    Evening Colors
    Sunset – Marines retire the American Flag for the evening at Voinovich Park.

    Taps
    10 p.m. – USMC Bugler sounds Taps indicating lights out Voinovich Park.

    Interview requests: Interviews are available and encouraged with any of the Marines working throughout the community. Photo opportunities abound, including aboard and inside static equipment.
