SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. – Third Army/ARCENT will conduct a motorcycle safety rally to educate soldiers on safe riding practices starting at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 24 at Patton Hall.
The event, aimed at promoting preventative actions to ensure motorcycle riders are affected in a positive way, also includes a mentorship ride to Lake Wateree.
During the rally, Lt. Gen. Vincent K. Brooks, Third Army/ARCENT commanding general, members of 20th Fighter Wing and local law enforcement agencies will mentor Third Army soldiers to increase rider safety.
Rider’s motorcycles will be checked they are safe to ride before the roughly 40 riders depart for an hour long ride to Lake Wateree.
Third Army/U.S. Army Central soldiers are experts in the Middle East and central Asia. With a forward HQ in Kuwait as well as the main HQ collocated with U.S. Air Force Central at Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, S.C., Third Army shapes the regional environment and is the critical cog to sustaining coalition military operations in the region.
