FORT LEE, Va. - Fort Lee Fire and Emergency Services personnel extinguished a fire at a vacant building on post early this morning. No injuries were reported.
Fire trucks and personnel arrived on scene at 12:35 a.m. to discover fire coming through the roof of the one-story training facility on Front Access Road. They had the fire under control by 2 a.m.
According to initial estimates from the installation’s Directorate of Public Works, the fire caused more than $250,000 in damage to the 20,000 square-foot building, which was built in 1941 and is undergoing renovation for use by the U.S. Army Quartermaster School.
Fort Lee Fire and Emergency Services is investigating the cause of the fire.
