Emmanuel Johnson, from North Charleston, S.C., a team leader assigned to 2nd Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, from Joint Base Lewis-McCord, Wash., fires blank rounds against the opposing U.S. Marine from 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit in a simulated in-the-field force-on-force exercise during Talisman Sabre 2011. Talisman Sabre promotes the alliance with Australia, which is one of the United States' most important defense relationships and a central pillar for national security strategy, based on shared values and a common commitment to peace and security.
