[12] Colorado first once again – this time in Southeast Asia
After being the first Air National Guard Unit to be federally recognized in 1947, and the local Minute Men becoming the first and only Air National Guard precision aerial demonstration team, the Colorado National Guard was selected once again for yet another first: The 120th Tactical Fighter Squadron was the first Air National Guard unit to deploy to Vietnam as a whole. [12] 140th Airburst Range Operations demonstrates integrated warfighting capabilities
The 140th Wing Airburst Range recently facilitated their second scenario dedicated to training the 13th Air Support Operations Squadron, Joint Terminal Attack Controllers in combat operations, similar to missions they would encounter in Iraq or Afghanistan. Air Force Staff Sgt. Nicholas Heffron received his initial JTAC certification and will be using the skills he trained for in the next six months to support a battalion within the Army's 4th Infantry Division. (01/22/10)
