On April 5th, 2014 the construction projects planned for Beyond the Horizon began. Beyond the Horizons is a training exercise sponsored by U.S. Southern Command and U.S. Army South. This is the fourth time this exercise is conducted in the Dominican Republic and the second time it takes place in Barahona. This joint military exercise will include the local ministry of defense, education and health and also medical professionals from the United States, Chile, Canada and Colombia.
