Visit, Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS) exercise during Fortune Guard 2014 off the coast of Oahu in Hawaii. Teams from the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, Republic of Korea special forces and coast guard, and United States Coast Guard each demonstrated the boarding, securing and searching of an at-sea vessel for components of Weapons of Mass Destruction. The demonstration gave governmental and military officials from Proliferation Security Initiative (PSI) nations
a chance to see the capabilities and requirements of a mission that would interdict WMD components. The VBSS exercise was part of Fortune Guard 2014. The USNS Henry J. Kaiser acted as the vessel being boarded, and Royal Australian Navy volunteers acted as the ship's crew.
