The 354th civil affairs brigade, homeported in Riverdale, Maryland., completed its first four months in Camp Sayer, Iraq on August 16, as the primary administrative controlling manager for civil affairs units throughout the country. During the first months of its yearlong deployment to Baghdad, the 354th coordinated the completion of numerous community-oriented projects. Uniquely, it's also the first civil affairs brigade in Iraq made up primarily of Navy active-duty individual augmentees and reservists. The brigade manages three civil affairs battalions based in Iraq, provides administrative control of them and monitors their operational mission objectives which support the maneuver divisions civil military operations objectives and quality of life projects for the iraqi people.
