Marines and Sailors with 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit completed their first exercise with the Navy's Amphibious Squadron 4 THIS WEEK. The Marines trained aboard and from the USS Kearsarge, USS New York, and USS Carter Hall. Together, the Marines and Sailors conducted an amphibious Squadron MEU integration exercise, or PMINT. During the exercise, the Marines and Sailors worked hand in hand to conduct exercises, establish procedures and build the working relationships that will carry them through their upcoming deployment. Gunnery Sgt. Jeremy Warnick, fires chief for the command element, says Navy/Marine Corps teamwork is a key element to this first at-sea exercise. “I think the PMINT’s have been a great opportunity for the Marines of the 26th MEU to get back to their amphibious roots, get back to being soldiers of the sea.” Following PMINT, the MEU will continue to train for deployment aboard the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group this fall. For the 26th MEU, I’m Gunnery Sgt. Bryce Piper.
