First Lt. Brian Gomes, medical operations officer with Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, takes advantage of an Iraqi medical qualification school on KMTB to offer refresher training to Iraqi medics. Iraqi army battalions rotating through Kirkush Military Training Base focus exclusively on infantry tactics during their 25-day training cycle leaving support soldiers with little to do. Gomes works with Iraqi medical instructors to put battalion medics through additional training, allowing them to enhance their skills while the battalion infantry soldiers enhance theirs.
