Maj. Ellen Roska, of 374th Medical Group, explains the potassium iodide distribution for Yokota Air Base.
At the direction of the commander of U.S. Pacific Command, military installations in selected regions in Japan have begun distributing potassium iodide tablets to Dept. of Defense members and their dependants. The precautionary decision is seen as a prudent protective health measure due to the potential of future radiological exposure. There is currently no indication of increased exposure, and no one should take the tablets unless directed to do so by U.S. authorities. Produced by Senior Airman Joshua Rosales.
