Bloggers Roundtable on Army Unmanned Aircraft Systems operators LIVE from the 2012 Army Aviation Association of America (AAAA) conference. Participants include;
CW2 Derek Kozielski, LA-ARNG, served four years and accumulated 1,200 hours
of flight time as a Observation Scout Helicopter Mechanic/Crew Chief before
transitioning to Unmanned Aerial Systems where he serves as a RQ-7B Shadow
Operator. His unit during Operation Iraqi Freedom completed more than 2,000
hours of accident and incident free Combat flight hours.
WO1 Michael R. Gray, Jr., LA-ARNG, was mobilized with the 256th Shadow TUAS
during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2010. After redeployment, he took over
his present duties as the Program Manager for UAS in the Louisiana National
Guard.
SSG Catalina Avalos, Washington-ARNG, serves as the platoon sergeant for the
WA State Shadow TUAS Platoon and the full-time readiness NCO for that unit.
She graduated the UAS operator course in 2008 before immediately deploying
to Iraq.
SGT Christopher Harris, B Co 1-17 IN BN, 2-2 ID, has UAS experience with
Raven Bravo and Puma AE. His Puma AE experience has more than 70 hours in a
combat environment, to include route reconnaissance, FOB security and
multiple calls for indirect fire.
SPC Kyle Jogsma, B Co 1-17 IN BN, 2-2 ID, served as a master trainer on
Raven UAS while stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas. He has no combat experience
and is undergoing Puma training at JBLM.
