The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Northwestern Division released the results of its "Post 2011 Flood Event Analysis is of Missouri River Mainstream Flood Control Storage" Friday, April 13.
The purpose of the analysis was to determine whether additional storage space in the reservoirs could have prevented the magnitude of the Flood of 2011 and whether additional storage space should be considered as an option in the future to prevent the recurrence of damages caused by the flood. The range of scenarios used for the analysis and to formulate the results of the study will be discussed during the call.
Northwestern Division Commander Brig. Gen. John McMahon began the call with opening remarks followed by a discussion of the study results by Jody Farhat, Chief of the Missouri River Basin Water Management Division. A question and answer session followed.
