For the first time in Pacific Command history, the Raven unmanned aerial vehicle system was launched in the Asia-Pacific region in support of Company G., Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, during Exercise Hamel 2012. Due to foreign frequency usages, clearance to utilize the Raven in PACOM has been difficult, but after much laborious planning and coordination, the Raven makes its maiden flight here in Australia.
