Maj. Gen. Stuart Beare, Deputy Commander – Police, NATO Training Mission – Afghanistan, participated in a DoDLive Bloggers Roundtable on April 21. During the Bloggers Roundtable, he discussed growth and professionalization of the Afghan National Police. In the second year following the conception of NTM-A, we continue to see significant growth and improvements in Police training - all that translating to more capable, credible and effective policing and security in the 365 Police Districts of Afghanistan. ANP have a huge appetite for training, education, and professionalization. With our international partners we are increasing the quality of the training experience, broadening the range of skills being provided, and introducing Afghan leaders and trainers more and more to running their training system and leading the in the instruction of this and the next generation of Afghan Police.
He also discussed the current status of ANP growth and professionalization, along with the road ahead for enabling a culture of lawfulness and public service of the Afghan National Police - and the development of Afghanistans own training institution as they develop the ability over time to sustain a quality training system on their own.
