U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District

Following the 2011 flood, the Corps’ Northwestern Division committed to better communication with the Congressional delegations, states, tribes and stakeholders, and this podcast is part of that effort. Flood control remains a primary consideration as we move into 2013 despite the growing concerns about the impacts of drought on the basin’s resources. Floods can and will occur even during periods of sustained drought, particularly during periods of freeze-in or ice-out along the river and as a result of spring and summer thunderstorms below the reservoir system.
