In recognition of Military Family Month, Barbara Thompson, director of the Office of Family Policy/Children and Youth (Military Community and Family Policy), joined a DoDLive Bloggers Roundtable on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 1:30 p.m., to discuss several programs the Defense Department is using in order to help our nation's 2.9 million military families. Thompson discussed the important role of military families - the force behind the force - and the network or programs, services, people and agencies to support to support them. The collaboration among these important groups promote readiness and quality of life of service members and their families. These services include: spouse education and career services, family life education, personal financial management, and relocation assistance.
