BOSTON - Coast Guard crews in Maine warn the public, Tues., March 8, 2011, to remove their fishing shacks from the ice before they begin ice-breaking operations on the Kennebec River in Maine. With the predicted precipitation March 10-11, Coast Guard ice breaking operations may begin as soon as Friday, March 11, to reduce the risk of property damage if the excessive rain creates ice jams and cause flooding.
